Opportunities to Give
Harbor Works Gallery is a non-profit 501(c)3 establishment (application pending) that depends upon volunteers and public funding to support its exhibits, events and community programs.
Time and experience are welcome from anyone with an enthusiasm for documentary storytelling, from creating to presenting. Volunteers communicate the mission of the Gallery. They help to organize events and participate in the installation and publicity of exhibits. They bring energy and empathy to This Place of Mine, helping children of Maine’s fishing families to tell their stories through photography. As receptionists they represent the community to visitors from away; introduce the work of an artist and inspire curiosity in the subject; share their knowledge of Cundy’s Harbor and promote an awareness of the challenges facing Maine’s working waterfront; gather comments and suggestions, and engage discussion of other working landscapes and seascapes. High school and college students, whose courses in the arts and humanities require community involvement or extra-curricular study, are encouraged to volunteer. The Gallery provides opportunities to explore interests in film photography, documentary techniques and curatorial practices. Volunteer hours are flexible and responsibilities varied. For more information, please call 207-729-9525 or 207-841-9812.
Funding comes from public grants and tax-deductible contributions. Harbor Works is grateful for donations in any amount, by mail, or at the door.
